Romance and the Stars: The Venus-Mars Connection

Posted on June 17, 2008
Filed Under Cosmic Clues | 1 Comment

One of the popular uses of astrology is to gain insight on romantic compatibility between two people. This is the first in a series of posts that will examine the Venus-Mars connection.

Traditionally the placement of the planets Venus and Mars in both horoscopes are consulted to determine the temperament and attraction factors. Venus rules the aspects that turn on our affections, while Mars rules the way we take action.

But in addition to this, the placements of these planets also influence the type of lover that melts our hearts. The placement of Mars in a woman’s chart indicates the type of man that she will find most attractive and the placement of Venus in a man’s chart indicates the type of woman that will appeal to him the most.

Next: How the astrological signs influence Venus and Mars.

Astrology for Regular People by Walter Semkiw, is a refreshing take on the subject that can help anyone on any level understand how the principles of astrology work.

Astro Tip of the Day: Make the Most of Mercury Retrograde

Posted on June 13, 2008
Filed Under Cosmic Clues | Leave a Comment

If you have been feeling a bit confused lately, chalk it up to the fact that Mercury, the fastest moving planet in our solar system has been in retrograde motion since May 26th.

In both mythology and astrology, Mercury rules communication and travel: when it’s in retrograde motion all types of snafus are more likely to occur.

This is a good time to take inventory of your personal agenda and communication methods.

Self-exploration and discovery of your psychological motivations can help you develop a stronger character.

Mercury usually stays in retrograde motion for three weeks and will return to direct motion on June 19th, so it would be wise to put off any major decision making until this time.

Mark your calendar: the next Mercury retrograde period is  September 24-October 14.

Signs of Success: The Remarkable Power of Business Astrology by Steven Mark Weiss uses a quote by J.P. Morgan in his book that may startle those who brush aside the science of astrology as hogwash: “Millionaires don’t have astrologers. Billionaires do.”

As quiet as it’s kept, some of the most successful business people use this science as tool to maximize their power in decision making.

In this fascinating book, Weiss guides you through a journey of the astrological indicators of success for some of the business giants including Walt Disney, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates.

With the analysis of the twelve business types, Signs of Success shows some of the ways to use astrology in your own business endeavors.

What do you call the longest day and shortest night of the year? The Summer Solstice! In 2008 it takes place on June 20th and marks the arrival of the Sun at the latitude of 23°N26′ (known as the Tropic of Cancer) and 00:00 degrees in the astrological sign of Cancer. For centuries festivities have taken place to honor two of the most powerful forces of nature: fire (the Sun) and water (the Moon).

Why not make this year’s event a truly mystical experience: make your own journey to England’s Stonehenge, a World Heritage Site. What remains at the site today are the last remnants of the monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC.

For organized tour information visit the official Stonehenge page. You can also view artifacts from Stonehenge at the London Museum, Salisbury Museum and Devizes Museum. Tune into your connection with nature at one of the most sacred and ancient places on the planet.
